My eight year old daughter and I, loved the reception we received from Jane and Ricky Carter. They are such welcoming hosts and so down to earth who gave us the keys and the run of their precious castle. We couldn't have wished for a more pleasant experienced, whereby we were made to feel at home and relaxed from the outset. This is a beautiful example of 15th century architectural curiosity, perfectly respected by Jane and Ricky. A real treasure (the house included).
Ruby and I love it. Read less

The curiosity factor of an ancient building coupled with the most generous of hosts ensured the comfort of the bed and the superb breakfast played second best (which were first class in themselves).

Medieval Lodge has everything you could wish for under one roof, plus a very friendly welcome from Ricky and Jane. The facilities in the room included an iron, ironing board, dressing gowns, lots of different types of tea, fresh milk, hot chocolate plus penguin biscuits. Brilliant.
The breakfast choices were really good and with a time to suit yourself it was just like being at home, whilst being waited on hand and foot! Read less

Jane & Ricky gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble and they really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.
Dislikes:
Lots of little (but essential given the age of the building)notices dotted around, to regulate guest behaviour, ie fire hazards, avoiding getting bathroom floor too wet etc were slightly off putting.

The owners, Ricky and Jane, made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to help us and our two little girls. The extras provided in the room were generous and vast - from toiletries to drinks
Dislikes:
As non smokers we were a little sensitive to the smell downstairs, but the room was fine.
Response from Medieval Lodge:
we do appolagise about the smoke down stairs we was lighting our last fire on the log burner and for some reason the last 4 logs we had left were so dry that when my husband opened the door of the log burner all this smoke shot out it was terrible we had to open all the windows we do appolagise but it was a one off and thought no one would notice but obviously the smell must of crept around the house.
